Privacy

Local by default. Your documents and workspace stay on your device, in your browser or the local files you choose.

Private by design

The core editor keeps writing and preview on your device, independent of accounts, cloud sync, collaboration services, and AI processing. Optional plugins can extend the editor; you choose which to install and review their declared permissions.

Browser storage

Documents created in Browser Storage, included images, preferences, recent files, and session state are saved in the current browser profile. You control when to save or export copies of that work.

Local files and images

You choose which local files and folders Faye MD can access. Available file actions depend on your browser. Image references remain references; selected image files can be included with a document and exported with it.

Plugin data

Installed plugins can save their own data, such as document history, in this browser profile. Preferences shows total plugin usage and a total limit; an installed plugin with saved data support also has its own limit. Lowering a limit does not delete existing data.

Offline work and optional connections

After the app has loaded, supported browsers can install Faye MD for offline use. Loading the app, checking for updates, and downloading plugins use the network. Online images, links, and other connected resources need their own connections. Document text and included images stay local unless you choose an action or enable a plugin that sends them to an online service.

Keeping your work

Clearing site data removes work saved in that browser profile. Other profiles and private browsing have separate storage. Save or export copies of important documents and their included images before clearing browser data.
