Features
Tools for focused Markdown writing, review, and preview.
Writing and preview
Write in Markdown and review the formatted result as you work.
- Syntax highlighting, document search, and synchronized editor and preview scrolling.
- Editing, preview, and split views for drafting and review.
- Preview headings, links, tables, code blocks, and diagrams alongside your text.
Documents and files
Keep several documents open and return to your workspace when you reopen Faye MD.
- Create, rename, organize, and reopen documents saved in Browser Storage.
- Open local Markdown files and export copies of your work.
- Browse local folders where your browser supports folder access.
Images and export
Add images to your documents and keep them with your work.
- Use image references or include selected image files with a document.
- Continue working across tabs while image imports finish.
- Export documents with their included images when a Markdown file alone would not contain them.
Appearance and preferences
Choose your theme, adjust editor preferences, and work in a layout that adapts to your screen.
- Light and dark themes with preferences saved in your browser.
- Keyboard shortcuts and responsive controls for desktop and mobile screens.
Privacy and offline access
Keep your writing on your device. The editor works without an account, with documents saved in your browser or the local files you choose.
- Install Faye MD for offline access in supported browsers after the app has loaded. Online resources still need a connection.
- The core editor is independent of cloud sync, collaboration services, and AI processing. You choose whether to connect online resources or extend the editor with plugins and their declared permissions.
Optional plugins
Add focused tools from the plugin catalog and manage them in the editor. LaTeX Formula and Version Control are available in the Web editor.
- Preview inline and block math formulas.
- Keep private document history, compare earlier edits, and restore a version.
- See how much data plugins save and set a total limit or a limit for an individual plugin. Lowering a limit keeps existing data.
